Tomorrow is Ulverston Carnival day with comics and comedians as the theme. My picture of the week, the new Laurel and Hardy statue outside the Coronation Hall in Ulverston, is my tribute to the comic duo. It is a very impressive statue, crafted by Graham Ibbeson and was unveiled by Ken Dodd a few weeks ago. Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston in 1890 and we have a excellent museum founded by the late Bill Cubin and now run by his family.
