I am lucky to live in a very special area of the UK, the Furness Peninsula. So today I though I would share with you the relevant part of an article that appeared in yesterdays Sunday Times travel section.
Where to stay
Camp on Piel Island — it’s free and you don’t need to book, but it’s diplomatic to pop into the pub and seek permission from the king. Or sleep in a Grade II-listed pigsty at Gleaston Water Mill (01229 869244, http://watermill.co.uk/). It sleeps two, has its own trout stream and views over the ruins of a 14th-century castle, and starts at £200 for the weekend.
