A few favourite photographs and some small familiar pieces of furniture is that all it takes to feel at home? Jean has her photographs and television, the old familiar radio and the knitted rug my mother made for her.
Last night when I visited her she said she didn't expect to see her home again because going back would be too difficult and upsetting.
I had thought I could take her back home for lunch and an afternoon in familiar surroundings but now I'm not sure if that would be helpful.
Maybe the move has been more difficult for me than for her. Her new room is now home because that is where she feels safe.
