I think I was more interested in her story than her music, Madeleine Peyroux was not a singer I had heard of until last week.
Not surprising because I only take a passing interest in music but I am fascinated by the Peyroux story, another of my BBC iPlayer selections.
She is a singer-songwriter with an unusual jazz type style.
Learning her craft the hard way after moving from the USA to France she started her musical career as a busker on the streets of Paris.
Her writing is simplistic and succinct and often about her own life experiences.
