Last night I watched a fascinating tv documentary based on Philippe Petit's autobiographical book To Reach the Clouds: My High Wire Walk Between the Twin Towers.
An engaging story about the realisation of a six year obsession by wire walking Petit who started devising his adventure after reading an article about the proposed construction of the Twin Towers.
His daring feat was secretly planned over six years with the help of friends and took place in August 1974.
The Twin Towers were shown in construction and with amazing shots from the top of each tower. It was an extraordinary story of crazy adventure and the fragility of friendship.
The tragic events of 2001 were never far from my mind as I watched.
I don't have a tv and watched Man on Wire on my PC from BBC iPlayer - tv licence required.
